Heuristic.

Hi All,

we just wanted to clarify few of our doubts on HEU running procedure.

Before taking a planning run we delete all SNP:Planned Orders.

Then we take Heuristic run.

we have found that the NEW Snp planned Orders that were created after the Heu Run, were starting from dates in the PAST.

for eg:

if we took planning run on say 05.08.2009, then the Start Date for the SNP planned orders were 04.08.2009 and the available date was 05.08.2009.

Unable to understand this. Plz help.

PP_APO_consultant,

The snp huristic should not create orders in the past. Under normal conditions the first order it creates should be in the middle of the first bucket in your planning book or today which ever is later. You may want to try running the snp heuristic in different planning books with different display profiles to see what happens.

Another thing I noticed is that your order had a long duration(one month). SNP orders should have a duration of one day. This is set by the fixed duration on the mode in the snp ppm or pds being set to one day. This is different then the capacity/requirment variable bucket consumption which sets the amount of resource time that is consumed. check your snp ppm set up.

You can also play with the period factor on the lotsize tab of the product master. this will move the date within the bucket (defalut is in the middle higher numbers later, check the help F1).

If all else fails you could always place a snp production horizon on (snp 2 tab) no snp production orders will be created before that time.
