Alternate Sequence

Former Member

Hi Guys,

I have a requirement in which I need to create alternate sequence in R/3 in the routing alongwith std sequence

and cif it to APO and to get a PPM with two modes one with std sequence and another with alternate

sequence.

I maintained accordingly and ciffed also. But I got a ppm with only one mode.

Could anyone worked on this scenario. Could you please help which setting i am missing.

Thanks & Regards

R. Senthil Mareeswaran.

Hi R. Senthil Mareeswaran

You might already have it but just in case: note 217210 might help you.

Check also if 607009 is implemented

I hope it will help.

Thanks and Regards

Julien

Hi Senthil,

I just implemented modes to APO by giving classes and certain characteristics to resources and operations.

I used this guide for it, I hope it helps you clarify your problem.

Hi,

Thanks to all hands who helped.

I checked all settings which you were suggested and everything looks ok.

Now my abapper is in debugging mode.

I have a quick question to ritesh. Ritesh you have suggested to use

branch and return operation as 20 & 30 wherein i used 020 & 020

What difference will it make? could you please ellaborate?

Hi Senthil,

You can transfer alternate sequence as alternate modes only through a use of Enhancement used in PPM. You activate 'EXIT_SAPLPGS1_001 " of the SAP enhancement CIFPPM01 in ECC.

Also refer note no 217210 - Mapping of alternate sequences in APO

This will mostly resolve your problem.

Kindly revert back in any case.

Hi Julien & R S D,

Thanks for your efforts in answering my question.

I checked the settings proposed by you and everything looks alright.

I have a doubt in maintaining the alt sequence.

ie I have a std sequence in my routing with operation nos 10, 20, 30,40 & 50

containing resources R1, R2, R3,R1,R2 respectively. In alt sequence, I have

branch operation defined as 0020, return operation defined as 0020 and I

maintained operation only 20 in alt sequence with resource R4.

Is the above settings ok or any change in set up required. With this setting,

if i run consistency check in CFM1, it is giivng warning message that

the alt sequence is not transferred, CFM2 job completed without any errors

but the second mode did not get generate.

Please help.

Hi R. Senthil Mareeswaran,

Just try to increase operation in alternate sequence like add one more 0030 with resource R5 and give branch operation 0020 and return operation 0030.

give it a try and revert back.

please also check the production version consistance in materl master.

Sorry couldnt help you much as i dont have system in front of me to test the scnerio.

Hi Julien,

Thanks for your quick response.

I already implemented these notes at my end but still getting the error.

1) During CFM1, if I do consistency check, it is giving warning message that

"the alternate sequence is not transferred". but when I run CFM2, the

run is successful but the second mode is not generated. Please help.

2) In the note, there is also one instruction that " The operation must be

apo relevant which have a control key relevant to scheduling". Could

you/someone please explain in which transaction and under which tab/field

do I need maintain the operation as APO relevant. Please help

R. Senthil Mareeswaran,

Please check the work centres used in alternative sequence what settings that have in capacity Tab undr APO resource......?

and also the control key used in routing , wheather its relevant for scheduling or not.

may be it will help you.

Hi again

To make the operation APO relevant you just need to ensure the controle key, in your operation is lfag as relevant for scheduling (CA01 -> operation > field control key > use F4 to display the setting and you will see if your controle key is relevant for scheduling.)

You also need to assign a work center to your operation (the the work center nheed to be CIF beforehand)

So there is not as such a APO relevant flag there..

Now you can check if the operation have a correct control key, if it is assigned to a wrok center, and if your work center has been CIfed... If all of this is done... then I am clueless

Good luck

Hi again again

Last point: I found another info:

"The number of APO-relevant operations in the master sequence must be identical to the number of APO-relevant operations in the alternative sequences."

i.e: check that both the master and alternative sequence have the same number of APO-relevant operation (see above!)

And some notes, but I guess those will not help you much...
