Hi,

I'm trying to do a system start using startsap. Just to give a background, I ran SGEN and the archive logs directory went full. Its currently 100% full with around 24 mb left.

I disabled the archive log by the following commands in SQL.

SQL> SHUTDOWN

SQL> STARTUP MOUNT

SQL> ALTER DATABASE NOARCHIVELOG;

SQL> ALTER DATABASE OPEN;

Then did an SAP start. This is a non dual stack system so JAVA SID is EEA, when I switch to eeaadm and do a startsap, then the JAVA side comes up, so means DAta base is running fine.

Below are the details of startsap for ABAP, Please help me, as my delivery of the system is in another couple of hrs and now this .

Checking EE0 Database

-

Database is running

Starting Startup Agent sapstartsrv

-

Instance Service on host sapbl028 started

Starting SAP Instance DVEBMGS00

-

Startup-Log is written to /home/ee0adm/startsap_DVEBMGS00.log

Instance already running

Starting SAP-Collector Daemon

Move or archive or compress some archive log files. Then restart your database and then try to start SAP.

See what happens

Check the LISTENER, and if listener is not up start it and than start SAP again.

have a look at the notes below

https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/655240

https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/602843

Do you have auth to restart your whole UNix server? If yes, then you can try that.

But please make sure you ove some files from Oraarch directory to make some free space there.

Hi Guys,

Thanks for your messages.

I can see that the Java is running fine, Which clearly shows that the DB is running ok. But not sure why the R/3 is not coming up and that error in the log file.

I had also made changed to the profiles. Could this be an issue? How to use the old profiles now?

Check Note 400241 - Problems with ops$ or sapr3 connect to Oracle. Also Did you try to restart the services and/or server if there is a possibility?

What did you do prior to this problem? Did you maybe install Oracle patches?

Hi,

Java connects to the DB using the JDBC driver and passing the "connection string", all needed information is stored "inside", somewhere, thee J2EE

R/3 is using a totally different connection method. You MUST jave the proper oracle clinet installed, the user has to belong to certain groups, etc.

One of the MOST important differences is that you MUST set the proper environment variables to be able to connect.

As Markus mentioned, probably you have changed something that makes the connection fail.

We know that your DB is up (you seem to be able to connect via Java) that means that something else is wrong.

From your unformatted trans.log the first error found is the following one:

> *** ERROR => CONNECT failed with sql error '1033'

and later on you have the explanation:

>***LOG BY0=>ORA-01033: ORACLE initialization or shutdown in progress

as we know that the DB is up (you should doublecheck this) then you are trying to connect to the wrong database, probably you have some environment variables wrong, or perhaps the tnsnames.ora or ...

you already were given two notes that give information on how to troubleshoot this error. Please, read them and follow the instructions there
