I want to upgrade my 46C system to ECC6 SR3 and we are currently on Windows 32bit server, and I have noticed that SR3 does not have install for 32bit.

What are my option for the upgrade to Ecc6 SR3?, or I have to first upgrade to SR2 and then another upgrade to SR3.

thanks

Hi Jagraj,

I will recommend to follow below steps:

1)Migrate the system from 32 bit to 64 bit system by system copy.

2) Upgrade the database. if required.

3) Then start upgrade from 4.7 to ECC 6.0

Thanks

You just need new DB RDBMS/Client and kernel CD's/DVD's the rest should be the same. Its all available at SAP marketplace.

OK, I have a Kernel on 32bit and DB on 32 Bit with SQL 2005

for me to go to SR3 Ecc6, which does not have install for 32bit, so I cannot run Upgrade tool which is prepare on 32bit.

and for me to 1st to go 64 bit on 46c, sap does not have a 64 bit fresh install for 46C, or I was not able to find it. So what I am doing is first going to SR2 on 32bit and the create a fresh install on 64 bit just the CI and move the DB from 32bit to 64 bit server and then upgrade from SR2 to SR3.

Do you think their is another way of doing it.

Thanks

Hi Jagraj,

There is no need to do 2 upgrades. Please go thorugh below process:

1) Upgrade your window system from 32 bit to 64 bit. For this follow SAP Note 960769 - Windows: Migration from 32-bit to 64-bit (x86_64)

2) Do the upgrade of SAP 4.6c to ECC SR3. For this check SAP Note 862789 - Upgrading SAP systems <=4.6 on x86_64 on Windows

You can upgrade your kernel executables during upgrade to target release. And all this information you can get from SAP note 862789.

Thanks
