Non-SAP to SAP ECC data load

Hi,

I may be in the wrong forum but please correct me if I am wrong.

I need to know if there is a tool to extract data from a non-sap system to load to SAP ECC or SAP R3 system.

No need to discuss BI servers here.

This is strictly getting data from a non-SAP server and loading it to SAP ECC or SAP R3 server ( NOT BI ).

Please help if you can. Thanks.

what is the database or file format of what you want to import?

is this a one-shot deal^ will you want to import the same data over and over once a day? once a month? every minute?

Answer will greatly vary upon your answer.

For most Non-SAP its Oracle and could be some other propereity as well, but for most part its ORA.

Also it may be a one time deal and may be a couple of times later as well.

Once the mig is completed, ECC will be used for on-going operations. Thanks for your help.

For Oracle, you can use DBCON to connect to your external Oracle database.

search SDN with keyword "Oracle DBCON" to find out how to use this.

I know you said not to use BI, but did you know that ERP 6.0 includes most BI functionnality and enables you to connect easily to external Oracle databases?

DBCON, is that like dbconnect in SAP BI. Customer does not want to use BI and want to stay clear of BI.

Can Ascential would do or informatica.

That's something you (or your customer) has to check - nobody cann tell you if the functionality of those tools is sufficient or not.

BI use DBCON, yes, but you can also use it without BI.

We use ERP 6.0 on Oracle and are connecting to an external MS-SQL db using DBCON. it works like a treat, but necessitates ABAP coding.
