Product category hierarchy

Hi. Please can someone confirm that product category hierarchy was new to SRM5? We are on SRM 4 and can not find it and it is on SRM 5 documentation.

Also, please can someone confirm how it works in the shopping cart? When you click on the product category search do you get a hieararchy display and then it allows you to click on each level until you find the category you want?

Hi Muthu,

I understand from your earlier reply that material group hierarchy in ECC can be replicated as Product category hierarchy in SRM by writing additional programs. Have you done this in your projects? If yes, please specify the process to be adopted.

As you aware product category hierarchy same in srm 5.0 too.

COMM_hierarchy transaction to view the hierarchy -

In catalogs we can search the hierarchy if we do maintain

but not in regular shopping carts. (describe , goods and services) - we have to search via product category only.

there are some business have more than one level hierarchy to satisfy their own business . customers have categories their own product hierarchy according to their business

that is classification of their product category like UNSPSC Hierarchy.

there are some business they load theirproduct category in to SRM system which has more than one level by programs.

it helps any many way.

We don't just want a big list of all the product categories, we need to search via a hiearchy because there are so many.

Yes. we can load the files (hierarchy category data) in to SRM by writing programs and you can make enhancement to show the last level of product category . However our product category must be defined in ecc.

we can havehierarchy in srm system as active and search the product category only ..

these category hierarchies are mainly used to manage the purchasing department responsibility vs suppliers .

We do not just want a big list of categories, we need to search by clicking on 1 level at a time. The SRM 5 release notes say that you can do this for contracts, but it does not tell us if we can do it for shopping carts.

if you see search help BBP_COMM_CATEGORY it help you to find out . i believe you must aware. but we dont have hierarchy search for product category hierarchy search but search help is available for contract.

COMM_CATEGORY-Search for Categories Via ID and Text

i think we can not create equal material group in ecc .

the last level can be mapped to ecc material group .
