What is the meaning of 'BR' in BR*tools, brbackup, brconnect, etc ?

BR*Tools are installed automatically on the database server in the directory /usr/sap/<SID>/SYS/exe/runBRTOOLS and provides as a character-based user interface for the functional programs BRBACKUP, BRARCHIVE, BRRESTORE, BRRECOVER, BRSPACE, and BRCONNECT.

Hi Omega

I guess BR in BRTOOLS stands for Backup and Recovery as backup and recovery is the main function.

Brbackup is used taking different type of backups.

Brconnect jobs updates , create stats and etc.

Brspace used for space management like reogrganization...

BRRESORE used for restoring backup and archive logs

BRARCHIVE used for taking archive log etc..

BR*Tools is the program package containing BRBACKUP,

BRARCHIVE, BRRESTORE, BRRECOVER, BRSPACE,

BRCONNECT, and BRTOOLS.

BRTOOLS is the interactive program that displays menus from

which the other BR* programs are called.
