hello
is there a chance, with out UDF, to translate Date?
the translation is for example from:
may 07, 2009 to 2009/05/07?
or any other games beween words and numbers?
is there a way to do it with the date functions or only with the value mapping?
Thanks
Kfir
Use dateTrans: convert MMMM dd, yyyy to yyyy/MM/dd

@RAVI:
I tried and it works fine. as long as it is the begining of the correct month it is working.
obvious that it is working on both direction.
Iddo, Thanks very much for your help

Hi,
use fix value mapping for getting values for ur month
which will convert may 07, 2009 to 0507,2009 , remove ',' using replace string standard function to get 05072009 and then use standard date functions to convert it into required format.
Thanks,
Anoop

Some more modification:
Source -> Substring(to get the month name....# of characters in month should not change)-> FixedValues(maintain jan to dec)--->(1)
Source ---> Substring(to get characters after month) -> Replace ("," with "")->(2)
(1)---->
Concat ----> DateTransform(to have the required O/p)---> Target
(2)---->
Regards,
Abhishek.
how exactly do I do it with value mapping?
I defined a value mapping, schema a as the month in words, and schema b as the month translation in numbers.
when I define the valuemapping function in the mapping section, I do not see the translation.
am I missing something?
what are the exact steps to do?
Thanks
Kfir

I dont think it can be done even with UDF also as format is MMM dd, YYYY which cannot be accepted
but i will watch this if any body has some magic for the same
