How to connect to other database

I have used the rfc & bapi to add,retrieve,delete data from sap R/3.But can anyone tell me how to connect to other database like oracle ,db2,mysql.

Can i use multiple database in one application if it is there how to do??...

Example i need to retrieve data from some legacy system and oracle and then i need to update the data and insert into oracle.

Is it possible through webdynpro or I need to use PI or MDM.

Please provide me the details.

If you dealing with liteweightComponents then creating your own classes that access JDBC.
