Hello,
I have a characteristic in COPA which represents the functional area and I also use the functional area in FI.
When I do a posting in FI, I fill the functionnal area (as FI field "FKBER") and I would like to retrieve this value automatically in COPA profit segment.
Does anyone know if I could (and how ?) use a CO-PA characteristic derivation ?
Thanks for your help.

You have a few options. You could use derivation rules in TCODE KEDR. This would be your best and first track. If unsuccessful look at the user exits in SMOD within COPA0001. There are three exits to choose from. You also could use derivation tables (an option in KEDR create). In derivations you move the data to a temp field and then assign the temp field to your characteristic.

Hello all,
I have also the requirement to derive the functional area 'FKBER' to a costing-based COPA. I intend to follow the instructions of OSS note 410258.
Now, I am wondering how to create the characteristic 'functional area'. Should the characteristic be created with reference to a SAP table (any proposal for the table?...) or should it be created as a user defined characteristic with reference to Data element 'FKBER'?
The COPA will be filled by PSP-Settlement and Cost-center cycles. Does the system after implementing OSS 410258 derive the functional area from COSP and COSS tables aotomatically?
Could anybody give advice?

It should get derived. We also have several profitability segments (based on
the characteristics) posted for a single billing document.

Hello Benjamin,
To create a COPA characteristic derivation I go in the KEDR transaction.
You can also create a FKBER characteristic you will integrate in your COPA.
