Our company are ready to use gmail as mailbox, but I want to know can the gmail be the mail server in trx SCOT?Does it need authentication while sending mails? Thanks in advance.

hi,
You can configure a mail server on SAP system but should meet following requirements;
SMTP server Address:
SMTP server Port No:
POP3 server Address:
POP3 server Port No:
after configuring above said in your SAP system the next configuration is on mail server that is "SMTP Relay" contact gmail, rediff, or any other service provider to add your SAP system in Relay.

Mirza

This is possible as long as you can communicate with gmail server. (Ping gmail server from your App server)
Under SMTP Connection: in SCOT
Mail Host : gmai lhost name
Port : SMTP port given by gmail or ( if other service provider like net4 india give the given port)
Incoming Mail (IMAP) Server - requires SSL: imap.gmail.com
Use SSL: Yes
Port: 993
Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server - requires TLS: smtp.gmail.com (use authentication)
Use Authentication: Yes
Use STARTTLS: Yes (some clients call this SSL)
Port: 465 or 587
This may work. not sure
Let me know if it works
Thanks,
Vishwanath

Hi,
Our own domain can implement the mail sending functionality, but are you sure gmail cannot be the mail server while configuring SCOT?
Could anyone help me do a test?I can't test that because the sap server are in the local network right now,and can't connect gmail server.
