BW Statistics is often a good source of identifying InfoCubes and queries that would benefit from them. The statistics are important if you want to you have teh ystem propose aggregates, which I have not found useful in our environment, but could be under the right circumstances.

You can search the BI forums and find a lot of info on aggregates. There are also many presentations on SDN - Try the Busines Warehouse Performance Tuning Knowledge Center on SDN
