Universe Restrictions

Hello,

I would like to know what is the best method to connect to BW Data from BO (Xcelcius or WebI). I understand that the best practice is to base the Universe on a Super Query on the cube instead of having it connect directly to the cube. Having said are there any specific restrictions / known issues when designing such a super query? For instance is there a restriction in terms of the number of characteristics or key figures that I can have on this Super Query? If there are issues, I will have to have more than one query per cube/info provider.

Hi,

There are no known restrictions concerning the number of characteristics, key figures or variables.

You have to take into account the performance when using such super queries.

Concerning direct access to Info Providers you won't have access to:

<li>Variables (Can be emulated in Universes and Query Panel)

<li>Restricted key figures (Can be emulated in Universes)

<li>Calculated key figures (Can be emulated in Universes)

<li>Structures

<li>Navigational attributes

<li>Data security

By the way we recommend to use BEx queries rather than Info Providers because most of the "intelligenece" is pushed to the BEx query.
