Hi Friends,

We are planning to do clean up activities in some of our Client systems.Need your suggestions and ideas regarding clean up activities.

1)What are all the things that we need to consider before we start with clean up activities?

2) What are all clean up activities that can be done in R/3 systems?.

3)What are all the precautionary steps to follow up to avoid any data sensitive datas while doing those clean up activities?

Apart from this what are all the things that can we do to improve tha performance of the system.

Any inputs or suggestion will be appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

With kind regards

Karthick

Hi Karthick,

You can check for the reorganization jobs running regularly in your system or not.(Follow the SAP notes that have already posted above) if your system is aged you may need to put an archiving strategy in place to move old data to some archive destination. Before you do any work, where you think that any loss may have critical impact, you should have backup of database or entire file system backup or necessary back out plan so that you can recover.

Apart from this what are all the things that can we do to improve tha performance of the system.

in SAP system, performance bottleneck can lie in all the layers which will finally affect the users. 1. OS 2. Database. 3. Application.

You have to check for the real problem which can really solve the issue.

i. Set the database parameter according to SAP's recommendation for your platform/system type.

ii. Check for any long running programs, bring them to developers attention if they can be tuned.

iii. Check for missing index. missing index causes sqls on tables to run for longer times.

iv. Check for any h/w or other os level bottleneck (you can take the help from your os team if required).

FYI - As performance of SAP system is little difficult to analyse.. you may consider SAP course ADM315 workload analysis.

Debasis.

Note 7224 - Deleting old corrections and transport requests

Note 6604 - Deleting job logs at operating system level
