Master Data with special characters processed in APO DP

Hi Gurus,

I have Master Data for Product characteristic with special characters like asterisk (*).

I well know from SAP standards and SAP Note 923066 that this kind of characters are not permitted in the Master Data, but the thing is that processing them in DP Macros, sometimes they are successfully processed and sometimes they raise an error message.

Could anyone tell me why they are sometimes processed and sometimes not?

I will appreciate any kind of info.

Hi David,

In general, macros are used to perform complex calculations.

Macros are executed either directly by the user in interactive planning

or automatically at a predefined point in time

Macros has got various special characteris which involves

mathematical operators and functions, statistical functions,

logical functions, planning table functions etc.,

In your case, the product characteristic with asterisk has been

processed in some cases because at that point of time, the

asterisk mark in product characterisitic does not experience any

asterisk mark which is embedded in the macro.

Whenever, it crosses or matches with DP macro caclulations which

involve asterisk mark, those records will not get processes.

Hi again,

I heart about APO transaction RSKC.

I know it's used to allow special characters like (*) to be uploaded from BW to APO, but I don't know if including the asterisk in this list will help me with these characters processing in the background using macros.

Could anyone please clarify a little bit?
