Hello all,

Is there a way to configure SAP Mobile 7.1, PI 7.1 or any other form of Netweaver to receive SMS or SMTP messages?

Hi,

Yess. There is definitely a way to receive SMS using SAP NetWeaver Mobile 7.10.

You can also configure the message text depending on the data that is being sent to the device.

E.g. IF you want to receive the SMS for the new service order being created, you can specify the SMS text as,

"New Service Order <ORDER_ID> is created by <USER>."

For this you just have to assign the SMS channel to the logical device which will be synchronising with the physical device where this SMS will be viewed.

I think currently we can only send out SMS using SMTP but receiving still not supported using netweaver mobile 7.1 . Correct me if i am wrong. Thanks.

That is right..data cannot be uploaded to DOE from receivers via SMS.

According to all of the docs, it looked as though only sending out SMS was possible

Is there a way around this perhaps - to receive SMS through Mobile 7.1 or PI 7.1?

Hi,

This functionality can be achieved by implementing the CUSTOM CHANNEL in DOE.

DOE has defined a framework to implement the custom channels and integrate it with DOE.

You can implement SMS as INBOUND channel and thus start sending data to DOE.
