How Deletion is handled in MDM?
Suppose you delete the record in MDM and you want to syndicate to the legacy systems that the particular record has been deleted in MDM. How does MDM handle this?
Does MDM support deletion at all?
Hi,
Generally you will not be deleting the record permanently. You will be marked it for deletion.
I believe even in R/3 the record will be marked for deletion.
1. You can have a flag in MDM lets say "Marked for Deletion".
2. When the user wants to delete, he can select the "MArked for deletion" flag to "Yes"
2. When you syndicate use the search criteria where "Marked for deletion is "Yes", and then syndicate the records to Legacy.
Hope this helps.

Hi,
Yes,We can delete the records in MDM thru MDM Data Manager. Once you delete the record using Data Manager. There is no undo operation. Once it is deleted thats it.
If you observe the standard repositories provided by SAP for all the repositories, it will have a flag something like Deletion flag or Client level deletion flag or something.
I would say the best approach is to go for the flag, because there is no way where we can get back the deleted record.
Thanks and Regards
