Upload and Download Errror " File does not contain valid data"

We are on the ECC 6.0 Unicode system.

I dowloaded the Role from QA server and tried to upload into DEV box.

I am getting the Error " File does not contain valid data".

However, when I downloaded the Role, it was done successfully.

Please let me know if anyone has that problem.

Check your access in Prod system. For the object S_USER_AGR you need the access to the ACTVT = UL to do this Job.

Also make sure not to save the downloaded role in any format other that with extension ".SAP"

I do have the access for DL and UL.

when I downloaded it, I downloaded it in .SAP format.

Anything else I am missing here? Please advise.

Yes, I did that also.

I got only S_GUI activity = 60, which I already have it.

When I download, do I have to select anything for Unicode systems for File?

Hi,

I think this should be S_GUI : ACTVT = 61. There is no such actvt = 60 for S_GUI available. You can check in the Table TACTZ.

Please try again after adding this actvt. Download and Upload the role again and trace in Dev system also.

Yes I have both of them from other Role fro S_GUI.

Select Encoding in the save as window when you save the role to local PC and also when you upload.

example: select encoding = (Default - UTF8 for Unicode Systems)

this should fix it.

Yes, when I dowloaded, I did select UFT-8 for Unicode.

While uploading also I selected the same parameter.

The end result is, I am still getting the same error message.

Are both the systems (source & target) on same sap version ?

after downloading the file, try and open it with notepad and check if you see data similar to example below

It seems like I have wasted too much time for dowloading and uploading the Role, I have tones things to do on my plate for tight deadlines.

Yes we are on same version same patch level.

May be the downloaded role file got corrupted.Did you tried to download one more time and upload?.

I just downloaded one role...opened with notepad...deleted one line..saved it..Now if i try to upload the role,i am getting the same error message as you...
