Hi all,
This is regarding assigning priority to resources product wise. Consider the following case
Product 1 & Product 2.
Both are produced in Resources X & Resource Y.
If equal priority is given in PDS_MAINT systems plans product 1 for resource X and product 2 for resource Y as it sorts in the alphabetical order.
If more priority is given for resource Y then systems is planning in this resource for product 1 & 2 in that order.
Now the problem is how to assign product 1 to resource Y and product 2 to resource X so that this combination is retained while planning.
Is there any option ?
Thanks in advance.
Durai,
now the question is how are you planning. Are you using SNP or PPDS.
If you are using SNP. You could either use CTM or the SNP optimizer. In both cases you will be doing constrained planning. That is you will go from your primiary source of supply to your secondary source of supply if the primary resource becomes overloaded.
If you select CTM you will want to match to demand from Product 1 to the supply of resource y and the demand from product 2 to the supply of product x before the other options. This can be done with the PDS priority.
If you select the SNP optimizer you want the cost of the first priority PDS's to be lower then the cost of the second priority PDS's
If you are planning in PPDS I think SAP would recomend you go to the PPDS optimizer where both resources would be modes in a single PDS for each product (2 pds in place of 4) with different priorities. However there are several ways to do this. See notes 441102,397989,459694,551125
CTM might also be an option for you in PPDS.

Hi Durai,
I think you are looking for prirotisation in PPDS.
This is possible only if you run PPDs optimiser. This
considers setup costs/set up times/priotisation of
orders based on resource, location product
combination etc.,

Hi Durai,
If your requirement is to assign product 1 to resource Y and product 2 to resource X so that this combination is retained while planning, then you assign only relevant product to the resource rather than maintaining both to both.
This will resolve your problem.
Please let me know.

Hi Senthil,
What you said is correct.
But the main issue is about assigning priority to the products/resource combination. ie., first priority should be given to product 1 - resource Y / product 2 - resource X combination and second priority should be given to product 1 - resource X / product 2 - resource Y combination.
Thanks
Hi all,
Any suggetions to the above query ?
Thanks
