Oracle Instant Client Upgrade ? Required ? - Pl Confirm

Exprts....Good Day.

Background

We have 2 environment

AIX 5.3 // Oracle 10.2.0.2.0 // NW 7.0

WIN 32 Bit // Oracle 10.2.0.2.0 // NW 7.0

Requirement

We are upgrading Oracle Server 10.2.0.2.0 to 10.2.0.4.0

Doubt / Clarification

Do we also need to upgrade " Oracle Instant Client "

if yes .....any referencen Note / Link.

if No ...any justifying notes / links.

Recall

I recall when we have done some upgrade on 9.2.0.x...we did some client upgrade also, but not exactly to recall that activity which we did around 4 years before.

If you search by term "upgrading Oracle from 10.2.0.2.0 to 10.2.0.4.0" you will get answer of your question.

Anyway Yes you need to update to instantclient to 10.2.0.4.x. For reference link check

Hi Jyoti,

Please look at the note 871735.It includes the location of patchset 10.2.0.4 for different

OS platform. When you will download the patchset, you will get the information in the Readme file

present along with the download, about how to install the patch set.

Patchset download information is present in note 509314.

After installing patchset you may be required to apply critical patch based on your requirement.

If required please post it,I will give you the location and way to install critical patches
