Hi Ram,
The description for Edit functionality is as per the explanation given by Sudhr.
For the ANo ( Automatic number assignement - &)
This is used more to describe a network or an activity.
When a project is copied the network numbers or the activity numbers are yet not generated. This ANo. "&" stands as a placeholder and numbers these networks and activites untill you save the project. Once the project is saved the networks and activites get the numbers assigned as per the number range approved.
Hope this explains your queires.

Hi,
1) "Edit" check box
Edit check box: this is basically meant for checking whether you are entering the correct coding mask that is already defined in "Define coding Mask" TXN OPSJ. incase if you enter the incorrect key system will through an error.
If you don't check the edit box, you won't have any validations on the project coding mask, anything you can enter but unique.
2) ANo ( Automatic number assignement - &)
The & is used to inherit the parental chars of the WBS, No need to use & only you can use @ or * also.
Ex: you have coding mask XCB.00.XXX.00
your first level wbs be: XCB.01
for second level you don't need to copy the entire first level and extend with ex: 'PRT'.
just enter &PRT, system will collect all the parental chars of first level wbs then your second level wbs be....
XCB.01.PRT.
test the same..!
