Hi Vickey,

I could find a link on MDM for Retail Industry where it also includes loading of BOM Master data in MDM 5.5

Please refer to the link

http://help.sap.com/saphelp_mdm550/helpdata/en/42/c89fc0c84e136ce10000000a1553f7/frameset.htm

Try to simulate this with MDM 7.1 in case you are looking out for a similar requirement.

Hope this info helps.

Thanks and Regards

The answers are going in the right direction. With tuples in MDM 7.1 you are able to modell simple time dependencies (valid_from, valid_to dates) which are a key character in BoMs. Create a new tuple with the valid_to and valid_from field and link it with the BoM. Now you should be able to create the same records but with different time stamps you can even search for.

Hi,

To maintain static BOMs, you can do it in MDM. Question is all about the dynamic BOMs. Think about SAP EP and have the code

to maintain the BOMs there. This will help you to send the BOMs to the target/satellite systems more effectively.

Hi,

You can use multi main table and tuple table for simple BOM.

With SAP NetWeaver MDM 7.1 and the newly introduced multiple main table and tuple concepts (see MDM Console Guide at http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nwmdm71/helpdata/en/49/bea6800cc92222e10000000a42189d/frameset.htm) it is possible to model simple BOMs, for example as applied in sales sets (1 computer standard set = 1 monitor + 1 desktop PC + 1 mouse).

Hi Vickey

MDM tool is not suitable for maintaining master data types like BOM and Recipes.

Reasons: they are more dynamic in nature, frequency of changes more, version management is not extensively supported in MDM, more quantitative data etc.

I understand SAP is claiming that it is possible to manage BOM from MDM 7.1 vesrion using Multi Main table consecpt and relation ships/
