Hi Krishna,

/usr/sap/trans will be global directory in a hole System landscape.

better to mount this directory before Sap Installationto other system like QTY,Production.

You can mount anytime by

  1. mount source destination

Hi Friends,

AT the SAP level to configure the transport routes, i would be doing as below

. After SAP Gui installed. (Development system is always domain controller.)

2. Logon to Client :000

User: DDIC.

Pwd: ******

3. Put a T-code (se06) in the command field.

4. Click standard installation and click post installation (yes)

5. Put a T-code (STMS) in the command field and give a description then save it.

6. Click System overview push botten, click extras option from the menu and click Distribute and activate configuration. (Yes)

7. Back to the stms main screen and click Transport routes from the push botten.

8. Click Configuration button from the Menu.

9. Click Distribute and activate from the configuration menu.

10. Now your sap system is activate in domain controller.

11. Now logon to QAS system.

12. Client: 000

User: DDIC

Pwd: ****

13. Put a T-code (se06). In the command field.

14. Click standard installation and click post installation (yes)

15. Put a T-code (STMS) in the command field.

16. Click other Configuration push butten in the bottom of appear screen.

17. Give information about development system. Example: tisdev, 00

18. Then save it. Ok

19. Now QAS is waiting for include domain controller.

20. Logon to Development system.

21. Click system overview push butten.

22. Click sap system from the menu.

23. Select the QAS systems.

24. Click Approve butten from the sap system menu.

25. Now QAS is member system of domain Controller. (Development system).

26. Suppose if you want configuring Production also, following the same step in the QAS.

development system as domain*

Unix level

We have the following file system for trans in the development

---/usr/sap/trans/PRD

In the production system, the following file system is existing ---export/usr/sap/trans/PRD

Where should i issue the mount command is it in DEV or QA or PRd and is it just mount /usr/sap/trans:host in the dev or qA. Please correct me if i am wrong.

Thanks.

Hi

Thanks for the reply. As you said before i perform tasks at the SAP level i have to mount at the unix level and then do the tasks at the SAP level.

I am logging into the DEV at the unix level and mounting as below:

In Development system

Host_dev> mount:QA_host /usr/sap/trans

host_dev> mount:PRD_host /usr/sap/trans

Should i login at the QA level and prd and do any steps.

There is one file sysem at PRD /export/usr/sap/trans , how should i mount this and what to do.

Sorry i have done earlier on windows, i have this doubts in unix. please help.

Are there any othere steps i am missing.

thanks.

first of all check network

QualityServer# ping devhost

ProdServer# ping devhost

login through OS in Quality# Mount devhost:/usr/sap/trans /usr/sap/trans/

For Production

login through OS in Production# Mount devhost:/usr/sap/trans /usr/sap/trans/

Thanks for the information, I am not able to ping. But the other systems on that server are mounted.

As it is not ping can i mount as you said and start doing configuration at th SAP level.

In our prd system there is on file system /export/usr/sap/trans , how should i connect this or just leave it like that.

Thanks

without network you will not mount.

ping IP each other if not able to ping through hostname .

if pinging then mount

Qlty #mount dev IP:/usr/sap/trans /usr/sap/trans

Prod #mount dev IP:/usr/sap/trans /usr/sap/trans

I could ping when i login with the root user.

We have three dev systems on that server which is as below

On the devlopment host

we have comon filesystem that is /usr/sap/trans

three <SID> file systems

/usr/sap/trans/PRD(this is production id sid)

/usr/sap/trans/MID(this is production id sid)

/usr/sap/trans/SRD(this is production id sid)

So when i mount , i would be doing as follows.

I will logging into QA

Qlty #mount dev IP:/usr/sap/trans/PRD /usr/sap/trans/PRD

In the same way i will be logging in to prduction , do as

Prod #mount dev IP:/usr/sap/trans/PRD /usr/sap/trans/PRD

Before mounting do i need to shut down the system, will other systems be affected.

What should i do with the filesystem in PRd system /export/usr/sap/trans/PRD

Sorry to put questions, i wanted to clarify before i go head.

thanks a lot

All system belonging to a landscape (test, qa and prd) must mount the same trans directory. Transports are stored in files and in order to import them on different systems the files must be available, hence, all must mount the same directory.

Ys ,You are right.

No need to shutdown .

Hi Krishna,

Do nothing, u already mounted the global transport directory in PRD also, u don't have to restart ur system. did u finish with creating the 3 system in a group (DEV, QA, PRD) , transport layer, and the path to the transport directory.

you should read the installation guide. it tells you exactly how to set up a centralized directory such as setting up permissions on the host that shares this directory.

I have checked as per the installation guide , all the permissions are set right and still the same problem.

Any advice.

thanks

You should consult the OS documentation and setup the NFS server so that it allows mounting from the other servers.

Krishna,

Markus is right.Consulatant with OS guys if you can do then check file system /etc/filesystems in all servers

first mount the /usr/sap/trans directory to qty and production system by mount command. after mounting sucessfully first decide which system u want to Domin for transport route. after it ust transaction stms and define system name and make standard transport rute if u do not have spesific path.

Thanks
