Master Inspection Characteristics Quidelines

Hello QM Experts,

Does anyone know if there is a suggested format for master inspection characteristics? For instance, if you are measuring length as one of the characteristics, which can have multiple values and upper and lower limits, is it best to create one characteristic for LENGTH and then add all of the possible value ranges, then in the inspection plan, choose the values that are "Pass" values and those that are "Fail" values..... or is it better to have multiple characteristics with different ranges for the values? It appears that the first choice would require less data maintenance.

Hi,

I will suggest you to use only single characterstic for particular parameter.

Data entry will increase.

Chances of wrong data posting will increase.

Anyhow if it is passed or failed you are having the recorded reading at which recording has been done.
