Hi,
The short explanation is that a system refresh is when you take the data (database) from your production system and refresh/replace your QA database with that, so at the end of the day you have new data on QA.

Hi al,l
Thanks for your reply but what all have answered is regarding system copy which i knew.
If system copy is same as system refresh then why there is difference in terminology?
All links which you have provided is all about system copy.
If data of one system has to refresh or replace by other system's data then how to do it?
Using data restore or client copy?

I think you have a concept problem... A refresh is nothing but a COPY of data from a source system to replace and outdated system.
How to refresh a system?... Simple. If your system is and ABAP system you can use a DB copy, Homogeneous system copy, client copy, client export/import.. etc. if its ABAP+JAVA then you best option is a Homogenous System Copy.

Say u want to Refresh ur QA from PRD data. Better u go for DB refresh.
DB refresh wont consume more down time. Also any ways all will be having regular backup of PRD data. So Just the DB team will make sure that the QA DB is replaced by new latest PRD backup data.
But make sure that u follow the pre and post DB refresh steps.
