Hi Tersia,

Ok - SDN search does not look up blog entries anymore, so you probably could have missed this one..

Hi Lars,

I don't see the solution in the thread above. Hast this been deleted? I want to move the MaxDB data volumes from C:[drive] to D:[drive].

Sanjay

Hi Sanjay,

I was able to find the blog just by using the SCN search...

http://scn.sap.com/community/maxdb/blog/2008/09/11/questions-to-sap-support-how-to-move-maxdb-volume...

Have fun,

Hi Lars,

Thanks, in the mean time I was also able to find this one :-). I tried the same solution yesterday and it did not work because I am using Database Studio 7.7.06.15. Any reason why it works with Database Manager and not with Database studio?

Regards,

Sanjay

Hi again,

I don't see why this shouldn't work.

Can you post a screenshot and/or the error message you get there?

regards, Lars

Hi Lars,

I have attached the screenshot. The error is that database is not running but we can change the destination only when database is offline.

Sanjay

Sanjay,

based on the error message it looks like you're trying to *add* volumes.

The key to *moving* the volumes is

  • get the database offline
  • change the volume paths (changing - not deleting and adding!)
  • move the files to the new paths

cheers,

Lars
