There is no size recommendations for /usr/sap/<SID> but make sure that there is some space always available. There is no connection to size of your RAM.
You may want to go through note 16513 for information on various folders and files in /usr/sap.

Hi,
I dont think usr/sap/<SID> depends on memory. It depends on your expected database size, your work directory logs retention period and the number of instances on the server. Ideally 50GB should be fine.
