Hello,
We have just installed Netweaver Portal 7
When we access the URL using IP address, many of the iViews, pages are not completely visible.
But when we access the same URL using hostname, it works fine.
Could you please tell me why do we face this problem with IP address?
Thanks.
Simply you shouldn't be using the IP. Portal requires the use of the full qualified domain name while calling the applications.

Juan

Juan, could you provide me some SAP document/links stating the same.
Actually, my client is insistent that he wants prrof that Portal does not work properly with IP address.
Theres explanations in the docs below,

In my view, ideally in any portal scenario's we should not be using the IP address directly. But if you wish, try with public ip address and make sure it is there in the host file and appropriate ports are open at firewall (if any)
