We are in a closed environment; therefore, we are not connected to the outside world. We would like to utilize all the features of Solution Manager. We currently have Solution Manager 3.2 installed. Once released, we will be installing Solution Manager 4.0. Our question is based on our closed environment i.e not being about to connect directly to SAP Service Marketplace, which features can we utilize now and in the feature. We are currently not using the Solution Manager 3.2, we only installed to obtain key. Please advise. Thanks.
Hi Margie,
don't worry you can use nearly all functionality even without having http connection to Service Marketplace. But for some scenarios that need communication to Marketplace you need at least RFC communication via SAProuter to OSS. These are roughly Service Desk, Service Connections and Issue Management.

Hello margie,
You can do the following functionalites
1. support desk functionality (only your internal (core) team can proveide support (you can not forward messages to SAP and receive replies on them)
2. solution monitoring
3. creating your project through solution manager
4. preparing blueprints
5. doing configuration of your project
6. Using BC-Sets
7. Using TMW (change management features)
8. Central Administration windows for j2ee components (Solution Manager Diagnostics)
