1) just wanted to find what role is played by SAP BI guys in SAP APO.

2 ) Is it necessary for a BI guy to learn the functional part of APO - DP/SNP/DS/PP/gATP etc ?

3) Is there any thing like technical skill set only for SAP APO ?

4)I keep hearing APO has BI built in, then what role does the actual SAP BI guy play.

Hi There,

BI Content provides roles within a company need to perform their tasks. This workbooks, queries, InfoSources, InfoCubes, DataStore objects, key figures, characteristics, ....

Now in DP there is only one datatype that is CVC, now those CVC can be generated using BI. In SNP, characteristis and key figure are the object of planning. when key figure is assigned to a planning area and that key figure also present there in BI infosource, then there is a link to BI.

For generating different kind of report we need to extract data from APO to BI.

BI guy does nt required to learn APO functionalities...but yes ofcourse if one have good understanding of BI, then it would be easier for him to be falilier with APO (specially DP).

No such technical skill set required to understand APO. , but yes knowledge required on Demand/supplu chain/plant/DC/customer...

To generate different kind of customer specific report BI guys required data which are planned by APO..

Hope this helps..

Thanks,

Satyajit

Hi AAL123,

Not required.

If you know BW stuff, that will help mostly alongwith technical stuff like planning area administration and workbench administration will help.

Enterprise reporting, query, analysis, building technical blocks for APO are the major BI activities.

The reporting, analysis, and interpretation of business data is of central importance to a company when it comes to guaranteeing a competitive edge, optimizing processes, and being able to react quickly and in line with the market. With Business Intelligence (BI), SAP NetWeaver provides data warehousing functionality, a business intelligence platform, and a suite of business intelligence tools which an enterprise can use to attain these goals. Relevant business information from productive SAP applications and external data sources can be integrated, transformed, and consolidated in BI with the toolset provided. BI provides flexible reporting, analysis, and planning tools to support you in evaluating and interpreting data, and tools for distributing information. Businesses can make well-founded decisions and identify target-orientated activities on the basis of the analyzed data.
