ERROR : Hostname is inconsistent

Dear All ,

We are using ecc5 on windows 2003

I am getting error in my prd server in Hardware info in St06

HOSTNAME

Computer : ######

Hostname : #########

ERROR : invalid hostname (RC=4)

HostToAddr : #########

AddrToHost : ########

ERROR : Hostname is inconsistent

Please suggest .

Hi Kumar,

Please check the Note 611361 - Hostnames of SAP servers .

Make sure all the conditions are satisfied in your given hostname .

Hi,

Try at command prompt nslookup hostname If there is problem in name resolution then you need to resolve it. Also remove any special characters from the host name like dash "-"

1. Check SE16 -> table SAPWLSERV -> Name

2. disable anti-virus software if any

3. check C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts

4. reset buffer -> SM51 ->

-> goto

-> Hostname Buffer

-> Reset

-> Entire System

5. use niping tool to test (SAP Note 500235)

niping -v -H <ip-address>

niping -v -H <hostname>
