Error - Budget Return

Dear Experts,

When I am trying to return the budget from a WBS element using T-Code CJ35, I am getting an error with Message No: BP164 "Capital investment budget exists for A-001 - update not allowed".

The WBS element A-001 is assigned to the Investment Program. Further It has two 2nd level WBS Elements which are assigned to it.

Budget returns can performed "Withing the Project" using CJ38. But not "From the project" using CJ35.

Hi

Budget Return : In project CJ38

If you are returning in project means returning the WBS elements budget to Project definition.

Budget Return : From project CJ35

It means you are returning the budget from WBS element to another project WBS elements /Project definition.

Based on your requirements you can select the above return options.

And use IM38 t.code to edit returns in Investment mangement budegts.

Hi,

You can not carry out any budget trnsactions in PS, if the budget profile of project is assgined to Investment type.

You can do changes only in IM in t-code like:

IM32 - Edit Original

IM33 - Display Original

IM30 - Edit Supplements

IM31 - Display Supplements

IM38 - Edit Returns

IM39 - Display Returns

IM52 - Edit Budget distribution to WBS or any Measures

IM53 - Display.

There are the only transactions you can do assigned to Investment program.

If you don't want that option, goto OPSA remove investment profile and goto PS Budget profile in IMG and remove Investment type.

Dear,

As the message suggests, Capital investment budget exists for your project. This means that you can only allocate budget to the project through Investment program. (Though after budget allocation to top level WBS, you can very well distribute the budget within the project as per your requirement)

You can use IM52 to change the budget allocated to your project.
