kernel update SAP NW2004s Java

Hi gurus!!

We are planning to change the kernel in our SAP nw2004s Java system and we realized that there are many ../exe directories under /usr/sap/<SID> (one per java instance number, one under SCS instance and one under ../SYS directory).

We have a doubt about the directory that we must update to perform an correct and complete kernel update.

Can you solved our doubt?

Thank you very much in advanced,

Edorta Ramos.

Hi,

You can use the Java Support Package Manager (JSPM) to apply support packages on deployed software components. You can also deploy SAP and third-party software components to which you can then apply support packages and patches. In addition, JSPM detects SAP software components that have been modified and allows you to apply support packages to them.

you can download the patches from the market place as mentioned below:

The .sca files can be downloaded from service.sap.com/swdc.

For downloading SAP_JTECHS.sca:

service.sap.com/swdc --> Support Packages and Patches --> " SAP NetWeaver" --> SAP NETWEAVER" --> SAP NETWEAVER 2004S" --> Entry by Component" -->Application Server Java --> SAP JAVA TECH SERVICES 7.00 --> #OS independent

For downloading SAP_BUILDT.sca:

service.sap.com/swdc --> Support Packages and Patches --> " SAP NetWeaver" --> SAP NETWEAVER" --> SAP NETWEAVER 2004S" --> Entry by Component" -->Application Server Java --> DI BUILD TOOL 7.00 --> #OS independent

For downloading SAP-JEE.sca:

service.sap.com/swdc --> Support Packages and Patches --> " SAP NetWeaver" --> SAP NETWEAVER" --> SAP NETWEAVER 2004S" --> Entry by Component" -->Application Server Java --> SAP J2EE ENGINE 7.00 --> #OS independent

Thats correct. Exe folders will be there for each java instance including CI and CS. I would suggest you to use JSPM to update kernel. Put the downloaded .sar files ( do not uncar them) in EPS/in directory and start with JSPM. There is a program called SAPCPE.EXE which is again kernel program which ensures automatic synchronization of the locally installed executables

(various exe folders) if changes have been made to the executables on the central instance. Please also refer to SAP note 891983.

Upgrade your kernel in /sapmnt/<SID>/exe.

Hi,

Please uncar the Kernel and and take the Backup of the old kernel.

Always copy then new Kernel in /sapmnt/SID/exe.
