MaxDB Admin Tool Cannot Connect error??

Hi. Help.

I've installed MaxDB v7.6 on my WinXP laptop.

I can connect to MAXDB1 with SQL Studio to 'localhost', but the SQL Admin tool will not connect. Nor will the SQL Query tool. I get error

"MySQL Error Number 2003

Cannot connect to MySQL Server on 'localhost' (10061)"

What is wrong, please?

Hi Charles,

it looks like you are using the wrong tool to connect. You cannot access MAXDB using a MySQL tool.

For an SQL gui to MAXDB, use SQLstudio, available here:

I do have SQL Studio installed, but I don't see the choices for database backup, restore, etc.

Perhaps I am looking at the wrong tool since I am very new to MaxDB.

Which tool is the Admin tool for the DBAs to use, not for developers.

Hi Charles,

you can use either the command line tool DBMCLI or the Database Manager GUI (Windows only) to administer your MaxDB instances.
