Former Member

Hi!

I am about to copy existing SAP system by overwriting this with another SAP system via system copy.

(e.g. system ABC will be overwritten by system ABD (system export) and still called as ABC).

Question

Which option within tcode SE06 should I choose during the initialization of TMS and what are the differencees?

a) system copy or

b) installation

Any helpful information will be very appreciated!

The question might have different answers depending on the purpose of the System Copy

Should it be a Standalone system... a new Sandbox... or is it a new copy of your production system to replace an old Test/QA system (Refreshment)...?

Be aware that deleting TMS configuration could cause you issues... especially if if you try to "Refresh" a system that happens to be the Domain Controller (i.e. if your development system is the DC)

Example: You have a three layer landscape

Pxx - Qxx - Dxx

You make a new System Copy of Pxx -> Qxx in order to get more valid test data (and either Pxx or Dxx is the DC)

In this case you do not want to delete the TMS configuration or TMS history.

You probably just want to reconnect the "new" Qxx system to the existing domain as Qxx.

In this setting you would answer No to all questions 7. through 10. in Ravi Kumar's posting.

Then finally reconnect/adjust with your TMS domain controller.

Logon to client 000, Goto STMS, Key in a Description of your test system and Save

Furthermore from the pulldown File menu's select:

Overview -> Transport routes

Configuration -> Adjust with controller -> Yes

Hello Ravi,

The explanation was excellent, short and to the point.

Point no 1 to 6 are perfect.

But we need to select "NO" option in below screens during system refresh in newly refreshed (say QUA)system:

Change originals from PRD to QUA --> NO

Delete TMS Configuration --> NO

Delete old version of transport route --> NO

Now login to domain controller (say PROD) and delete QUA from transport domain.

It will prompt for should configuration change be distributed immediately --> Yes

Now login again to QUA

Go to Tcode : STMS

Configure it and save.

Again go to PROD system and approve QUA system from SAP system --> Approve

It will prompt for include QUA in transport domain --> yes

and distribute immediately.

If you want to disable transport all button (BIG Truck buton)

then set the value of CTC and NO_IMPORT_ALL value 1

Let me know if you still have any doubt.

If you want I can explain all these with proper screenshots.

Hi,

I will suggest that once your new system is ready after system copy, Delete the existing TMS Configs and configure the TMS again using the STMS only.
