I am getting the syntax error while applying the sap basis 710 level 5 and 6 together.
The error message

What happened?
Error in the ABAP application program.
The current ABAP program "SAPLTMSC" had to be interrupted because it contains
a statement that cannot be executed.
In the include "LTMSMTOP " in the line 14 of program "SAPLTMSM " the following
syntax
errors occur:

Se38 tcode and some other tcodes on execution are giving dump in the system.

i too had the same issue.
Apply the latest kernel patch and update the spam.
Repeat the procedure.
check the maintanence certificate.

Refer to the below post
As per above post
1. Do not apply this patch with DDIC, but copy of DDIC user.
2. If it is struck up try at OS level with
tp R3I <SPname> <SID> pf=/usr/sap/trans/bin/TP_DOMAIN_<yourdomainSID>.PFL tag=SPAM
(it works fine).....
eg: tp R3I SAPKB70013 QBW pf=.......PFL tag=SPAM.
3.if necessary restart the SPAM again....
Just give a try as said above.

I referred the post you mentioned.
last evening i restoreed the system form the backup before applying patches and applied both patches separately.
It occurs when we apply 2 level patch together in which the top one is the latest one.
This many times results into errors.

Is TMS configured?.... seems like theres an inconsistency in your TMS settings. can you check that the information in STMS is consistent and then resume the patching?.

Can you paste SLOG AND ULOG here you can find the same at
/usr/sap/trans/log

Hi,
Please check the follwoing points before applying patches.
Check that you have good Background process and Dialog process in Sm50.
Check that kernel Patch level is upto date.
Check that Stms is configueres.
Check that you have new r3trans and tp.
Check that All additional application serves are stopped to avoide sink error.
Check that the Job RDDIMPDP is running Fine.
