Hi,
I want to setup a clone of my DB2 v8 database on windows 2000 on a AIX 5.3 server via TSM.
Has someone already done this kind of backup / restore ?
Thanks in advance
Yves
Hi Yves,
it is not possible to usebackup/restore to clone databases between Windows and AIX, because of the different endiness.
If you want to clone your db from Windows to AIX, you have to perform a so called heterogeneous system copy, which is described in a SAP guide.

I just recently did a system copy (SAP ECC 6.0) from Windows 2003 to AIX 5.3 via sapinst (db export/load), it worked perfectly without any errors - the tools has really improved in the latest NetWeaver sapinst ...
The only downside of using db export, is that the source should be shut down, or at least have no activity on the system, so ensure data consistency in the target system.

Yves,
just as an addition: the SAP Guide mentioned above by Jens is available under
<a href="http://service.sap.com/instguides">http://service.sap.com/instguides</a>
Navigate to your SAP Release and then choose 'Installation'. For newer releases there are different Guides for ABAP and Java. The Guide for a 'Heterogeneous System Copy' with SAP Netweaver 04 SR1 is e.g. available

Johannes
