I have searched the documents for IXOS admin but I cannot find any coverage about
whether IXOS can manage WebDAV, what is the relationship between the media (e.g. DVD,
WORM, etc.) and WebDAV?
Could anybody here help explain?
Thanks!
hi,
Christy,
WebDAV is an extension of the HyperText Transfer Protocol (HTTP) providing a standard infrastructure for asynchronous
collaborative authoring of a wide variety of content across the Internet. The goal of WebDAV is to define the HTTP extensions
necessary to enable distributed web authoring tools to be broadly interoperable.
the major authorization is from WebDAV, this is under KM, OR Netweaver.

hi,
christy,
IXOS was the company that developed the first SAP R/3 archiving system. IXOS was renowned for its solutions which operate at thousands of companies and extend the functionality and increase the performance of the SAP system by managing the explosively growing amount of digital content. These solutions today are integral parts of the Open Text Livelink ECM offering.
/In 2004, IXOS was acquired by Open Text Corporation, the largest independent ECM solution provider in the world. The industry-leading archiving solutions of IXOS are still available as part of the Open Text Livelink ECM suite, complete with even stronger document management, Business Process Management (BPM), and collaboration tools for customers.
The archiving system is an independent, separately licensed solution but one tightly integrated with SAP, with its own sophisticated search engine and, if needed, viewer client. Its scanning client supports Virtual ReScan (VRS) and the integration of any OCR engine. It allows for archiving to any popular mass storage, including direct optical devices. The solution has SAP certifications in several categories and for many of its components (SAP NetWeaver, ArchiveLink, the new WebDAV XML, and SAP xAPPs certifications). Open Text is the global market leader in document management and archiving solutions for SAP applications.
Also,
SAP Content Server does not support direct archiving to an optical device (e.g., DVD jukebox or WORM). To implement optical storage, third-party software is needed. The solution does not include a scanning client, either. On the other hand, SAP software package licenses include SAP CS, so customers need not make extra investments, and using SAP CS does not entail additional licensing costs.
thats why, obvoiusly componies going for therd party itegration and interfacing thier products with Standard SAP components.
EX, itegration of IXOS with sap the Sap Netwaever plays a major role and have full authorization control over third party software.
