Hi All,

I am in the process of identifying proper hardware configuration to implement BI. Based on available information from the BI consultant I have filled BI sizing questionnaires as a result I got the bellow.

Solution Release CPU cat. SAPS (total) DB SAPS App. SAPS (ABAP) App. SAPS (JAVA)

NETWEAVER 7.0 S 2.000 500 1.500 200

How to proceed further? Is this correct?

Hi uday,

Solution Release CPU cat- NETWEAVER 7.0 S SAPS (total) - 2.000, DB SAPS App - 500, SAPS (ABAP) App.- 1.500, SAPS (JAVA) - 200

The above is result of quick sizer, There is nothing much to compare this result with benchmark result. Guys who have already done this can advise how to proceed further.

Hi there,

Your SAPS look sufficient for a SME's development server. Please maintain that BI is a resource hungry application.

Was hardware vendor involved in sizing process? Also, whats the user base?

regards, Sean.

Hi Sean,

No, Hardware vendor is not involved at least now. BI users are:

BW user Report. OLAP Explor.

9 80 20

4 50 50

2 100

Can you suggest me any H/W config? How to proceed further? Please advise.

Hi Arvind,

I think better u should contact your hardware Vender with the quicksizer result and they will provide you the exact H/w required for this configuration. And from your statistics SAPs looks okie.

Hi,

You might want to look at the below thread.

If you already have a BW system (loaded with data), then the program and method described in SAP note 917803 is recommended

Hardware partner translates the results of SAP QuickSizer into optimal configuration of hardware.

So please go through the thread for more information.
