DEV and QAS copy from PRD

Former Member

Hi,

We have ERP 2004 on Windows 2003 with SQL 2005.

Due to some corrections(config changes and abap corrections) were made directly made in our PRD System, we now need to completely refresh our DEV and QAS system with PRD.

As we do not have enough space to make a system copy, please suggest me a way to do a complete refresh without PRD data getting into DEV and QAS servers.

Thanks and Regards

Dev

Hi,

First of all as Please dont copy the some specific tables unless you have perfect idea of what about. Many table are linked. So you cant copy specific tables .So best way is get some space added and perforn Remote client COpy.

Hi,

As you have mentioned You need to copy the Client specific, Cross client and Programs also without data.

In Client copy you can copy only the Client specific and cross client customizing and the data you will not be able to copy the Repository.

If you want to copy the repository you need to Do a System referesh or a DB backup restore.

Since you have Low space i suggest you to go for a DB backup and restore which copies all you System data from PRD to QAS and DEV. then do a local client copy with only customizing data. then you can have a client with only customizing data.

Since you have changed the repository directly in PRD you can use the option of Client export or import or even a client copy it will not copy your Repository.

Basis Requirement for Client copy is Your Repository of two systems should be Same.

One more option you can do if there is not much repository changes you can create Transport of copies from prd and import the same to QAS and DEV then do a client copy.

Please let us know for further clarification you need.

Hi,

The solution suggested by Balaji also needs sufficient amount of space for DB export/import and local client copy.

Is there a way to copy client specific, client independent and Repository objects. This is my exact requirement.

Hi,

First of all we never System Copy the Dev System.

You can do Client Export And Import in a perticular Client in both Dev and Quality.

So please check the Size of the client in production and then Prepare your Quality and Dev System fr that.

Please select suitovale Profile for the client Copy that suits your requirmrnts.

Thanks

Hi,

If you want to perform system refresh of Dev and QA from PRD, there are many ways.

But as you are telling no enough space, so you can go for Database Refresh of both Dev and QA with PRD data.

Any ways u will b having daily backup of PRD. SO just perform the pre- refresh, handover the system to DB they will copy the PRD backup to both QA and Dev. Later u can perform post refresh steps.

But if the changes made in PRD are client specific, then you can go for client copy.

Remote client copy or Client copy using Export/import method.

Discuss with your team and perform the 1 which suits and completes your requirement.

Let us know if you have any issues.

Hi,

Thanks for your responses.

As said earlier, we need to copy Client dependent and Client Independent settings and programs(everything except data) from our PRD server to our DEV and QAS Servers. We cannot do a Database copy as we do not have sufficient space in our DEV and QAS system to accommodate our PRD database.

Thanks and Regards

Hi Mukund,

In your scenario , better to go for client export / Import process in order to refresh .

Select the appropriate profile :

*************************************************************************************

SAP_ALL All Client-Specific Data w/o Change Documents

SAP_CUST Customizing

SAP_CUSV Customizing and User Variants

SAP_CUSX Customizing w/o Authorization Profiles and Roles

SAP_EXBC Customizing, Users and Cross-Client Customizing

SAP_EXPA SAP_ALL with Cross-Client Customizing

SAP_EXPC Customizing Including Cross-Client Customizing

SAP_PROF Only Authorization Profiles and Roles

SAP_RECO Recovery (Only if Source Client = Target Client)

SAP_UCSV Customizing, User Master Records and User Variants

SAP_UCUS Customizing and User Master Records

SAP_UONL User Without Authorization Profiles and Roles

SAP_USER User Master Records and Authorization Profiles

****************************************************************************************

I think you need SAP_EXPC " Customizing Including Cross-Client Customizing " .

Do not go for SAP_ALL as it contains all config and data .
