Dear Satya

Please go through the links below

http://it.toolbox.com/wiki/index.php/Homogeneous_System_Copy_Oracle_/_4.6c_/_Windows_Server_2003

https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/303af93a-0811-2a10-0687-f3514f01...

Check Note 389530 - INST: R/3 4.6C SR2 - Homogeneous System Copy

and Note 201149 - INST: 4.6C/4.6C SR1 R/3 Inst. - Homogeneous System Copy

But first read all those documentsproperly and understad the process and then customize according to your system

You can restore the backup by choosing databse dependent method.

Thanks and Regards

Hi,

For this requirement you have to follow the homogeneous system copy procedure (as i am assuming your both system will be on same OS)...

Also, its good if you will restore from offline backup...

If you system is dual stack system then you have to export java from source system...

This whole procedure is descibed in system cpoy guide, please use below link in order to find guides:

http://service.sap.com/instguides

Thanks

Hi Satya,

You have to follow system guide as you cannot restore database as such because DBSID is different for both system...

System copy guide talks about export of java and restore database... there is nothing to export and import database...

Thanks

HI Satya,

It is possible to restore online backup. If you having same DBID then its good and if

it is not same as in backup then also possible.

Copy all datafiles ,controlfiles ,online redologfile to same path as in backedup db.

now startup mount pfile=<path/initSID.ora>

Recover cancel base recovery.

Hi Satya

You have to do homogeneous system copy using backup restore method ( database dependent). THis is quite big task. You have to go through documents available in Service Marketplace.

Please check the below link. This will give you link for docs for your system

http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/a2/2f0c173a5e43d19585724239ff4de7/content.htm

I could not provide more information as you have not provided your system release and usage type

Thanks and Regards
