RFC Destination does not work for /sap/xi/adapter_plain service

Hi

We are facing a strange issue. Our business partner is trying to connect to our XI box, RFC Detination type 3 through a reverse proxy at our end. If he used /sap/xi/engine service, he gets a 500 response " empty request received". Howerevr if he connects using /sap/xi/adapter_plain, he is not getting any response, just a green tick at the bottom with no message. SMICM shows " wrong content in header response"

Monika

for sure RFC type 3 cannot be used to connect to any http service on XI

you need to use RFC type H or G

H HTTP Connection to R/3 System

G HTTP Connection to External Server

Hi Michal

Thanks for the prompt response. I have mentioned the smicm error. with http watch also, it gives us 204 No content found.only when we test it with RFC Connection test it does not work.

Hi

any clues anybody?

RFC Destination works with the service sap/xi/engine and does not work with sao/xi/adapter_plain and

Howerevr even if the rfc connection for

sap/xi/engine connection test is successful, the message processing

does not happen. It tries for some time and fails stating time out.

Hi Monika,

can you explain your scenario in slightly more detail............because it is not clear whether your third party system is trying to send msg to your XI system or your XI system is sending a msg to your third-party system...........

Hi

We are able to send data to our business partner. When he is trying to send data to us, he is not able to do so.

He needs to do so via a reverse proxy. We have replicated the scenario on our side to cross check.

We are able to connect to our XI with http/https without reverse proxy. However with reverse proxy we are not able to do so.

Also in case of http without reverse proxy, the message processing does not happen even thought RFC Connection test is successful/

Hi,

1.Check the services are active using the sicf transaction in the target system.

2. check the reverse proxy host resolution properly happen.

I´m in the same situation.

Hi

We solved the problem by using SAP Web Disptacher instead of Reverse proxy.
