Communication Error - ABAP API

Former Member

I seem to be having trouble connecting to my MDM Server from my SAP BI server. I recently ugraded to MDM 7.1 from version 5.5. As per the documentation, the MDM_TECH 710_700 Add-On has been installed on the BI side so I can utilize the ABAP API. I am currently running SAP NetWeaver 2004s.

When I try to test out the RFC connection in the MDM API config (mdmapic), I get the following error:

Error Details Error when opening an RFC connection

Error Details ERROR: program **********************.MDS not registered

Error Details LOCATION: SAP-Gateway on host ************* / *************

Error Details DETAIL: TP ************************* not registered

Error Details COMPONENT: SAP-Gateway

Error Details RETURN CODE: 679

Error Details SUBRC: 0

Error Details RELEASE: 700

Error Details TIME: Thu Jun 25 17:41:46 2009

On the MDM error long, I get the following information:

RELEASE 711

2009-06-25T14:44:23.396,6088 ,25," Errorinfo.message: ERROR service '*******' unknown

I have gone through the documentation and added the 'SAP RFC Gateways=' and 'Trusted SAP Systems=' strings to the mds.ini file. I am quite sure that the service name is correct despite the error saying service unknown.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

My problem was traced back to the mds.ini config file. Make sure the settings for the following are correct:

SAP RFC Gateways= GWHOST= GWSERV=

Trusted SAP Systems=

GWHOST is the application server

GWSERV is the system number - a 4 digit number, the last two digits are the system number

Trusted SAP Systems is the 'System ID'

Hope that helps. Once you restart the MDM server, the gateway service should be registerd. You can check this in tcode MDMAPIC or SM59.

Hi,

As per your suggestions, we changed MDS.ini file and still not worked in our end...We also noticed one thins in MDS.ini. When we put comma and after restart it will be automatically changed to semi colon...

Will the RFC Destination will be successful when we execute ? Please let me know...If possible can we discuss.

We get the below error when i execute RFC Destination...

Error Details Error when opening an RFC connection

Error Details ERROR: program **********************.MDS not registered

Error Details LOCATION: SAP-Gateway on host ************* / *************

Error Details DETAIL: TP ************************* not registered

Error Details COMPONENT: SAP-Gateway

Error Details COUNTER: 1296

Error Details MODULE: gwr3cpic.c

Error Details LINE: 1778

Error Details RETURN CODE: 679

Error Details SUBRC: 0

Error Details RELEASE: 700

Error Details TIME: Thu Jun 25 17:41:46 2009

Error Details VERSION: 2

We also get the below error inaddition to the above old one.

We get success message in MDM Side and Problem is in the ABAP Side

Thanks

Hi,

Even I am getting the same error as you all were getting that the RFC connection is not registered, with the same format as you have stated above.

I have put the parameters as stated above, but still I am finding issues.

Please let me know if some other configurations are required.

Regards,
