If XI is not doing mapping for the control segment fields and if one of the fields is missing value at the target side. is it something to do with XI or ECC.
In the current scenario the control segment
EDIDC (control segment) has a field Archive Key which displays the IDOC number of the sending system. This is used as a reference of which idoc of source we are dealing with and is used for reporting.
So is it something that XI needs to look into.
Yes thats correct kalyan. You need to map the archival number to reference field. Also you may need to map all the control fields.

Archive Key doesn't has to be filled in Message mapping.You need to manually change that when you want to modify its default value,for example when you want to pass XI Message ID instead of Default ID.
we have supressed whole of EDI_DC40 and Arc Key is filled automatically with ID when IDOC reaches ECC.
