DEAR FRIENDS,
Can any body give the advantages and disadvantages of applying the following methodology for the maintenance plan .:
1- One plan ======one EQUIPMENT ======one maintenance Item.
2- One plan=======one EQUIPMENTS====== Multiple Maintenance Items.
3- One Plan ====== Multiple EQUIPMENTS==== Multiple Maintenance Item.
Hi,
1- One plan ======one EQUIPMENT ======one maintenance Item.
For Ex In plant i have pump which needs to be overhauled every year , what I do Create One maintenance Plan , One Equipment(Pump) in Maintenance item & Start the Plan , Result I get One Maintenance Order at end of one year.
3- One Plan ====== Multiple EQUIPMENTS==== Multiple Maintenance Item.
Suppose same plant has 50 pumps which needs to overhauled every year , This I can Map in SAP preventive maintenance in two ways.
A. Create 50 Maintenance Plans for each different 50 Equipments (Pumps) in Maintenance items & Start All plans , Result I get 50 Maintenance Orders every year ,
or
B.Create One Maintenance Plan , 50 Equipments(Pumps) in 50 Maintenance items & Start the Plan , Result I get 50 Maintenance Orders every year.
if i am using One maintenance plan for multiple equipments its easy to monitor in dead line monitoring , takes less time to get rescheduled , I think it takes less space & less system response time , then why to go for 50 Maintenance Plans with different 50 Equipments in it.
2- One plan=======one EQUIPMENTS====== Multiple Maintenance Items.
This type is preventive maintenance is used Very rear .
Just Take a example I have very precious heavy equipment like Turbine , which I need to Inspect Turbine Rotor from One external Party A & Get this rotor tested by other external Party B every year . As this both Operation execution is Very Costly , when the Maintenance Plan is called I will decide whether to execute this Operation or not.
So how I will Create Maint Plan to Map this , I will Create One Maintenance Plan with Two Maintenance Items ( One Maintenance item will have Turbine as Main header equipment , Task list will have inspection Operations ,External Party A Work Center & Other Maintenance Plan will have same turbine as main equipment , Task list will have Testing Operation with External party B Work Center) , this will Create Two Maintenance Order one for Inspection & One for Testing ,based on budget availability I will release this Maintenance Orders for execution.
Every thing depends on scenario , One thing SAP PM consultant should take care is Use Less Maintenance Plans , More Maintenance items ,less number of tasklists , Easily understanding , easy monitoring , less system loading

In One Maintenance Item if you are inputting Multiple Equipments in Object List Yes Cost cannot be settled to individual equipments in Object list.
Cost will be settled to equipment in the Reference Object data.
I think its better you use Multiple equipments in Object list only to do & track commmon maintenance activities like Lubrication , Calibration ,GearBox Oil Checking .......... for set of equipments.
You can use user exit to settle cost to equipments in Object list.

hi
for 1st scenario
better solution for capturing the cost at individua and the scheduling parameter can be chaged which affects only that equipment
2nd scenario
it is not worthy to create one maintenance plan and equipment with multiple maintenane item
3rd scenario
it is used normally for combination of equipments ie all the pump have same type of maintenance with same frequency ,ie all the pump to be serviced once in 3 months
but the scheduling parameter will affect all the maintenance items
