Query regarding client copy

Dear all,

I have a query regarding client copy:

Our database is Oracle 10g and OS is HP_UX 11.31

I have to make a remote client copy from production to quality.

I have created a new client in quality and will be selecting SAP_ALL profile.

My production database is 520GB.

Now my query is:

1. How much should be the free space in usr/sap/trans mount point in the quality server so as to

be on the safer side while doing the remote client copy(patch and kernal are at the same level)..?

2. Do I have to look after other mount points like :oracle/<SID>/sapdata1, oracle/<SID>/sapdaat2..and so on?Or any other mount point?

This is the first time I have to do this on HP-UX platform so am bit concerned.

Regards,

PG

1. I suggest you do the client copy with RFC (transaction SCC9) and not a client export. It is faster and does not use space in the trans dir.

2. Yes, definitely. The space needed in the database depends on the size of the source client. Check note [118823 CC-ADMIN: Size of a client|https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/118823] for an estimation of the size (your results may vary :-).

Please also have a look at these notes, they are very useful:
