Hi,

My client's Requirement is -

material is having item category DIEN when i am punching sales order of this material

systems is taking Item category as TAD.

as per clients requirement I created on more item category by copying TAD name as ZTAD

now our requirement is

I am having 2 materials with material type as DIEN.

in sales order in first line item I am entering material X & in second line item I am entering material Y

My client want for first line(material X) system should take Item category TAD & for second line item (material Y)

system should take item category ZTAD

how to fulfill this in SAP?

We did Item category determination in which we confi, -

1.sales doc type - XX , Higher levlItemCat - nil, DefaultItemCat - TAD

2.sales doc type - XX , Higher levlItemCat - TAD, DefaultItemCat - ZTAD

still we are not getting required things what else we have to do?

Regards,

Akshay

Hi,

For second line item Enter the first line item no. eg. "10" in HgLvIt (Higher Level Item) column. It will populate ZTAD in Item Category of Second Line Item.

Hope this will solve your problem.

Vijay

Akashay,

Is ZTAD is BOM material of TAD? If answer is Yes then this setting should work,

If answer is No, then it wont work,,,,,The reason is the system will never find any higher level item for ZTAD as it is not associated with any BOM. i guess it make sense rt?

Thanks,

Raja

Hi there,

As per the standard SAP item catg is proposed based on Sales doc type / item catg grp / usage.

In your case is the item 2 a lower level item of item 1? If yes, only then your current setting you made will work. OR / DIEN --> TAD & OR / DIEN / TAD --> ZTAD will work.

If not, then as per standard you canot fulfill the requirement. Coz for the same item catg grp DIEN, system will not allow to assign 2 different item catg:

OR / DIEN --> TAD & OR / DIEN --> ZTAD not possible.

1 basic question, what is the difference between TAD & ZTAD? When you can use ZTAD why again you want to use TAD? For the same item catg group, why do you want to define 2 different item catg? I beleive as per the business process you should either use TAD or ZTAD.
