hi guys
hi new to portal admin
pls tel me what is meamn by offline backup and how to do it..
regards
kamal..
Hi,
What is mean by offline backup?
Ans: thre is different kinds of backup processes for the database, like
online backup
offline backup and incremental backup and snap shot backups.
see as per u r question offline backup means, when the system is down that time u will take the backup.
or the offline backup script only stop the SAP and the database and it will takes the complete backup.
later u need to start the DB and application.
Online backup means, when the system and DB is up and running that time backup.
there is the major difference between online and offline backup is online backup needs archive redolog files for the recovery and offline backup dont need Archive redologs for the Recovery.
and your second question how to do it?
we have different ways to perform the same, like using BRtools, and scripts at the database levels.
just try to read the manuals or guides regarding the same. u can find lot of stuff in online.

Hi,
Backup depends on the database. But one thing if you want to restore portal systyem try to have Java export of that system also as Java system stores it reposity in the file system.

Hi,
Backup is not dependent on the system type. This depends upon the type of database.
