How migrate SARA archive from old sap server to new sap server?

Hello,

We want to make homogeneous system copy from our old sap server to our new sap server. But we made archiving with SARA transaction code and we have some archive files

under "/usr/sap/TST/SYS/global". After system copy how can we access these archive files from new sap system? Is it enough that to copy archive files under global folder from old sap server to new sap server? Can we access archive files from new sap system after we copy archives files that under global folder from old sap server to new sap server? Must we make any changes on new sap server? Our old sap system ID and new sap system ID are same. For example sap ID is TST for new and old sap system.

Could you please help us about these issue?

Best regards,

Hi,

What is being changed from old to new system? only the hardware?

If client, system and logical system remain the same, the it should be possible to access archived data if you copy archive files from your old global folder to the new one.

Please refer SAP note 153433 for more info.

Thanks,

Hi Naveen,

We will make homogeneous system copy and new sap system ID will be same with the source system. Also we will use same client and and same logicel system name. We will change only hardware. I think it is enough that copy archive files from source system to the new system. Is it true?

Also, if we want to change sap system ID while system copy, how can we use old archive files in new system? What must we do to use these archive files in new sap system?

Best regards

Hi,

Note 153433 mentions "If only the system ID changes when a new installation due to a system copy is carried out, read accesses are still possible.". So changing only the system id, you should still be able to access the archive files.

If you are planning to change logical system / client then refer to note 460620.

Thanks,

Naveen
