Hi,
I know that a field called MDMID will be maintained on MDM side for every record import for Identification on MDM. Are there any specific rules or any combinations to create MDMID? Like in SAP MATNR is combination of material group, xxxxx, yyyy... etc. The identification of a record on MDM side is only signifinance of MDMID or more than that? Any Blogs/Articles on this?
Are there also any specific rules or any combinations to create Key irrespective of Harmonized/Non Harmonized (internal/External) key generation?
Thanks
Hi
Interseting thread. To me it depends on type of business requirements.
Normally MDM ID is used as Global ID for master objects like customer, vendor etc and they are identified by different numbers in different target systems like ECC. In this scenario number rangs are driven by local systems and not SAP MDM. This helps when we merge say two reccords in MDM.
Another approach is to let MDM drive the number range and feed to target systems like ECC. In this we can have calculated fields based on MDM auto ID field.
MDM numbering system is not so elaborative as in ECC and supports very limitd possibilitis.Reason why for maximum instances we dont see numbering driven by MDM.
hope this helps
regards
Ravi
